I love poetry, music and fantasy C-dramas.
This blog will be about sharing my experiences, what I've learnt, been up to and literally my thoughts.
SOME THINGS ABOUT ME:
1. Language learning - Korean:
I started learning Korean during COVID-19 in 2020 when I zapped into it by Wattpad. I saw a book that said Korean vocabulary, tapped it, read it and kind of got interested but that wasn't the main reason why I started learning Korean. There is a particular resin Korean YouTuber called 쪼만한 (Jjomanhan), whenever I would hear her speak Korean, I always wondered how such an angelic language exists. I watched Korean street interviews and listen to some K-pop songs and decided to start learning it.
I first went on Duolingo and experimented on other apps too. Korean was the first language I ever learned by myself, I did have classes on French (grade 7-9) and Arabic (most of primary school and also grade 7-9) but I don't think those language classes got me anywhere with understanding the language. I felt I wasn't improving and stopped for some years so I'll say I've been learning Korean for two years but picked it up again this year, hopefully correcting the mistakes I've made.
2. Language learning - Chinese:
The second language I'm learning is Chinese. I don't know if it's because I've been a huge fan of C-dramas and have been watching them for at least 10 years now but my listening comprehension is way better with Chinese than Korean.
It's because of this that I realized that apart from studying a language you also need a lot of input too. I was consuming a lot of Chinese media which includes vlogs, series, movies, songs and so much more while for Korean I think I wasn't listening to the language a lot.
3. Art :
I've been in love with art since forever and have also been into drawing ever since I could remember. I was always so passionate about it maybe that sparked my interest in Fashion design or probably because I love clothes, jewelry or generally how outfits can create a whole new person and identity. When I found out about digital art in 2020/2021 I delved right into it. Although I haven't been making art recently I hope this blog makes me accountable for lots of things including my art, learning Korean and Chinese and probably other things too.
4. Podcast :
I made my podcast to share my views on the world, politics, people and generally debates that I deemed important or just things people didn't really like hearing or talking about. That's why I named it Undiscussed With Nabila. Hoping this year I'll continue releasing episodes for season two.
5. Coding :
And lastly, my dev journey. When I was in 9th grade we were taught in school on how to use scratch and that sparked my interest in game development.
When I graduated highschool in 2021 I got into coding and programming. Learnt Python first and decided to venture into the world of Web development and I have to say that although bugs really are the worst I still enjoy coding.
