I was scrolling through twitter today and saw a short quote that said "you don't have to be good at something to enjoy it".
With the constant pressure of social media and proving your hobby or what you enjoy actually makes you stand out and not just places your flaws to your face. It's hard to actually continually do what you like without the urge to get better at it or prove it's been of great benefit, both to yourself and to society.
And this feeling that everything must turn to something especially of financial or societal value still strikes me most times.
I love dancing, writing, singing and doing other things, even though coding is part of my job, I still enjoy doing it as a hobby. And because of this, people do see it as a way to categorize me or wonder what exactly is the use of this.
Must there be a use of this? Must this be of major significance? The fact it makes me happy enough, doesn't that give it it's own ovation.
And that's why the lovely art of not giving a damn, saves you and me (especially, because this is for me) from not caring too much and doing what I want.
Another major plague in the human mind is judgment and disconnection to the world around. So ingrained in your fantasies about life, the world, what you do and your little joys that you feel you no longer hold a place in society? Why is that? With or without you, life still goes on and society is not one to care about your little heart but is one to place judgements rather harshly in a sometimes subtle but most times eagerly condescending manner.
And this fear of judgement and exclusion may leave one, you or me, feeling that they have to drop what they love to fit in. But why do you have to?
When I go online a lot of people talk about how it doesn't matter to be a part of society but without majorly explaining it. Validation, an annoying part of human life, but feeds the delusion of being important and makes the heart feel like it's full even though it's actually empty.
To seek such validation at the cost of your happiness is to trample the little keep sake you finally found that makes you feel joy and excitement for a possibility, the lot in society would find you "acceptable". But maybe they will.... Does that make you happy? Does that truly make you happy?
Maybe staying by yourself isn't so bad, after all.
Or is it? Alone with your thoughts and the things you enjoy. But the societal validation could also help elevate your status, that is if your little joys aren't the only thing they take away from you.
